Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi
This book has become a must-read, must-have for your Success Library. I have been told a number of times in the past few years to pick this book up and read it and the other day came across the same recommendation – so I took the plunge! And sure enough, I see what everyone is saying about the impact of this book. It is all about building a lifelong community of colleagues, contacts, friends and mentors. And the cool thing is that Keith does a great job of walking you through the step by step elements of making that happen. I found myself at the end of chapters, stopping, and doing the elements of the chapter because I couldn’t wait to implement them!!!
Every level of success is because of the relationships in ones life…it’s time to invest into yourself and learn how to create the community of people that together, you can change the world.
The 3 main things that I have taken from this book are:
1. Relationships are built on win/win scenarios. Go into building your relationships looking to give and build a lifelong connection versus going in to get and the results will show.
2. You must put the time and energy into knowing your connections – before and after the first encounter. You must care enough about the person and organization that you want to connect with by doing your research up front and then when you do connect, you will impress them by showing your commitment to serve and know them.
3. Know what you want and be clear, concise, and honest. Be authentic with people by letting them know that you are there to serve/help them, yet you are on your journey as well and would appreciate a level of reciprication at some point – yet the main purpose is to solve people’s problems and they will want you on their “team.”
There is so much more that I have taken from this particular “gem” of a book. Ladies and Gentlemen, we are all in the relationship business, there isn’t another book that I have come across to date that will help you in that arena more than this one. Don’t hesitate as I did initially on this book….get it now! Happy reading and happy connecting!
