Happier by Tal Ben-Shahar
If it’s good enough for Harvard it is good enough for you! This book is the backbone to the most popular course at Harvard University and is filled with great information and insights from Dr. Ben-Shahar. This isn’t a rah-rah, rose petals, and fluffy pillows kind of book, this is a real look at the secrets to daily joy and lasting fulfillment. It will have you thinking and reflecting on your past life, current life, and how you will live to create your future life. It is a very “easy” read that flows well and keeps you engaged throughout the entire book.
Out of the many things I have taken from this book, 3 of the main lessons are:
1. Having a clear definition of happiness helped me embrace the goal of being happy even more. He defines it as “the overall experience of pleasure and meaning.”
2. We cannot simply hope for happiness in our personal and professional lives, it is something that we must actively seek and create for ourselves.
3. Choose to live life in the “what is” (present) versus the “what if” (future/past) realm. You have influence only over what is happening right here, right now – make it count.
I highly recommend this book my friends, not only for your benefit, but for the benefit of everyone that is around you that will be impacted by your commitment and pursuit of a HAPPIER life. It will be a tremendous addition to your Success Library.

Brandon Johnson
