JGID! – Just Get It Done
I had created this acronym back in the days when I was Director of Management Training and Recruitment for Famous Dave’s BBQ and was reminded of it recently as I was going through some old materials. It has as much “power” with me today as it did then. JGID – JUST GET IT DONE!
I have many things on my todo list and I can prioritize them, alphabetize them, organize them, and quite honestly anything-ize them, but it DOES NOT MATTER if I don’t just get going. Quit dancing around and JUST GET IT DONE. Then analyze it, reflect on it, learn from it and move on. That is a much better use of my time than things having to line up or be perfect before getting started.
One of my favorite quotes is, “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” How true is that? Just get started and FINISH THE TASK. Finishing that one will fuel you to go onto the next one and then the next one and before you know it you have accomplished so much more than you have in a long time.
So that is today’s mantra my friends – learn it, apply it, live it. JUST GET IT DONE! JGID! JGID! JGID!
