Life Lesson #18 of my first 40 years: SQUIRREL!
Life Lesson #18: SQUIRREL!
There is a character – Doug the dog – in the movie “UP” that inspired this lesson. In the movie Doug loves everyone and life, yet is easily distracted by thinking there is a squirrel in his midst. And so there are many times that he’s doing something and then all of sudden – SQUIRREL!! – and his focus and attention goes elsewhere.
Does that sound familiar to you and your life?
I know for me, it is easy to get distracted and excited about everything else except what I am “supposed” to be doing. Sound familiar again?
The solution to this is to SQUIRREL!
What I mean by that is this: Focus clearly. Act Decisively.
Although Doug and others think squirrels are distracting, which they can be, but in real life a squirrel by nature is quite focused and decisive. The ones that are not, are the ones you find in the middle of the road.
Think about yourself and your journey – the times you have been indecisive about who you are and where you are going – are the times you have been run over just like that indecisive squirrel in the road of life.
Is this silly? Maybe, but I can tell you this – it works. SQUIRREL! Focus clearly on what you want/what you are doing. Act decisively towards making it happen – NOW.
