The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader by John C. Maxwell
This is one of the best, what I call, “night stand” books. It is a short read with each of the 21 qualities having 4-8 mini pages of wonderful quotes, stories, and insights. John is one of my favorite authors and this book is one of the main reasons why. I love books that you can just open any page and that with a quick glance you can get a great message that easily applies to life – personally and professionally. I highly recommend that this little book travels with you and/or you put it on your night stand for morning and night quick reads.
The 3 main elements that I took out of this book are:
1. You are only as good as your private standards. When people are watching, it’s easy to “step up” and be a leader, yet what really matters is what standard you hold yourself to in the private moments. How you do one thing is how you do everything.
2. Good enough is never good enough. Your level of competency at this given moment is being passed over by the millions of people that aren’t willing to be complacent and good enough. The successful people in this world continuously are pushing themselves to grow and expand.
3. Giving is the highest level of living. Being able to share your gifts with others will only inspire them to discover and unleash their own. It is all of our responsibilities to be at our best and to give away our time, talent, and treasures to those that are less fortunate.
This book would be an amazing addition to your Success Library and is a book that keeps on giving, which are the best kind.
May you always have within your reach a wonderful book to take you to new heights.
