The E Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber
This book has nothing to do with e-learning or the internet as the title may suggest….it is actually speaking in terms of the Entrepreneur Myths……and it truly is a remarkable book. It speaks in terms of how to be not only a successful Entrepreneur, but how you can apply the teachings to any area of business to achieve the level of success you desire and deserve. It is an extremely popular book, over one million copies sold, and is an “easy to understand and apply” type of book. Anyone looking to create and have success in business must read this book!
The top three things that I took from this book are:
1. Working “on” your business versus working “in” your business. THIS DISTINCTION IS HUGE! So many of us are so busy working “in” our business every single day that we don’t make the time to take a step back, look at our business from a new perspective and spend time strategically planning the future – which is working “on” your business. Big mistake….you must find the balance of focus to spend time “on” your business and guide/teach others to support you on working “in” your business.
2. There are 3 types of business “personalities”; the Entrepreneur, the Manager, and the Technician. The Entrepreneur is the visionary, the dreamer. The Manager is the pragmatic one, the planner and organizer. The Technician is the doer. We all have elements of each within us, yet it’s important to spend the majority of time in your Strength area to help the business and team move forward.
3. The world’s not in chaos; we are. The world’s not the problem; you and I are. Mr. Gerber’s book is so much deeper and meaningful than just a book on business. His core belief is that when we fix ourselves “in here”, we will actually have a direct impact on the world “out there”, and it’s not vice versa as many people believe it to be.
I highly recommend this book my friends…..add it to your Success Library and enjoy applying the principles immediately!
